Originally from Virginia, Gerrit Antezana spent his formative years in Houston, Texas. The child of Bolivian and Puerto Rican parents, his teenage years revolved around literature. Specifically, the classics: Shakespeare, Dickens, Dostoevsky. At the University of Houston’s undergrad writing program he was introduced to more modern writers like Denis Johnson, George Saunders, and Antonya Nelson. It was at UH that he decided to dedicate himself to becoming a Writer. After completing his undergraduate degree, he moved to New York City to pursue an MFA in Fiction at The New School.
